The music for this video comes from a bonus track on Paul McCartney's Memory Almost Full album from 2007. It's an instrumental track called In Private. I must like it, because it's always been the 2nd most played song from my iTunes list of "Top 25 Most Played" songs. I hope you enjoy the video!
I think you're going to like this one. You get to look at some of what I consider to be the best (and most iconic) book cover design from over the past 100+ years or so, while listening to Bach's Arioso Sinforia from Cantata #156 (1720). There's a picture of the album cover at the end of the video. That album is a highly recommended listening experience.
The song is The Beach Boys' Let's Go Away for Awhile, performed in concert by Brian Wilson and his band at The Roxy Theatre in California in the year 2000. From the famous Beach Boys album Pet Sounds, it is unparalleled in mood. Once asked what makes this song so special, Brian replied, "Try to hum it!"
If you're going to design a book cover, you will probably need a photograph or an illustration. This video showcases some of the finest illustration talent from the last 100 years or so. Set to the tune of Amy Grant's Do You Remember the Time, which features Stevie Wonder and Vince Gill. I hope you enjoy this video slideshow.
Speaking of illustration, I have been know to use some of my own illustrations on my book cover designs from time to time. A good example of my wet media illustration style can be seen in this mural of Tuscany from 2005. It was done in a hallway, and as such, you can't get far enough away from it to photograph the whole thing! So I have shown "details" of the mural. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the wonderful music.
